Appointment of Vicar

Interviews for the post of Vicar for the new United Benefice of Theydon Bois and Theydon Garnon were held on Monday 26 July. Unfortunately the representatives from both churches were unable to make an appointment, so the post will be re-advertised in September. We are naturally very disappointed, but I'm sure you all agree that it is better to wait a bit longer to find the right person. Please pray that God will direct the right person to us next time and continue to pray for us all as we do our best to continue our church life and worship without a Vicar. We need your support!

Confirmation classes

Bryony and Geoffrey will be running classes in Epping starting in September for Confirmation in November. There is a group of young people from Theydon Bois and more are very welcome. There could also be a group for adults. Please see Robyn or Diana if you are interested.

Course in Christian Studies comes to St. Mary’s

We had a very successful taster session. If you didn’t manage to come but would like further information please talk to Diana. The course starts on Tuesday 21st September in the Parish Centre.

St. Mary’s Harvest Flower Festival

This is taking place in church over the weekend of 24 - 26 September 2010. It opens at 7.00 p.m. on Friday 24th with Songs before Supper, a concert of varied and popular music on the theme of flowers by the Crofton Singers followed by a reception giving the opportunity to view the flower arrangements over a glass of wine and canapés.

On Saturday 25th the church will be open from 10.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m. when there will also be stalls and refreshments, all in the church grounds. On Sunday it will be open from 12 noon – 4.00 p.m. and tea and cakes will be served by the M.U. The day will finish with Festival Choral Evensong at 6.00 p.m.

On Monday 27th we will be inviting some of the older residents of our community to view the flowers and have a cup of tea in church.

Dinner at Waltham Forest College

Following this very successful event two years ago we have booked the Mallinson Restaurant, Waltham Forest College, for Thursday 21 October for a “fine dining experience”, including canapés to start and finishing with coffee and petit fours. A licensed bar will be available for you to purchase your own drinks during the meal. The cost is £25 including travel to the College by coach, leaving Theydon Bois at 6.30 p.m.
